Up and RUNNING!!!

Sorry for the delay, we have just settled into our new home and now I can get back to updating this blog on a regular basis. Last night I was able to get my office together, that means my fly tying bench and internet are set up and we are good to go. I haven’t been out on the water in close to a month and I really need to get out.

We’re planning our annual “Montana” trip. We will be leaving June 14 and will be back on father’s day. In years past we have stayed on the Madison River at Campfire Lodge. They are under new management and with new management that normally means jacking up prices! Of course, prices have gone through the roof. We love the area, atmosphere and the memories of years past. Thanks to our realtor and friend Danny Kettle, he has offered his father’s cabin out of Island Park, ID. We will be staying in a 4 bedroom newly finished home for the week for the same price we would have paid for a little 2 to 4 hundred square foot cabin’s for 5 days. We will be closer to West Yellowstone, which will be good and have the chance to learn the Island Park area for fishing. We will take a couple of days and head over and fish the Madison, but I’m looking forward to learning Island Park.

I’m going to be sitting down at my bench for the next couple of weeks tying like crazy. I hope to get out at least once before we head to Idaho, but with all of the little projects I have sitting around home, it’s not looking good. We will see what this weekend brings I might be able to break away for an afternoon.

Don’t be afraid to head out and fish the rivers right now, the water may be high, just be careful when wading!! If the water isn’t murky the fish are still hungry and fishing should be fair to good. Change your tactics, don’t fish your normal holes, fish the edges more and look for slower water. Fish bigger attractor patterns, this is a good time to fish streamers. Good luck and hope to see you on the water!
